Tracy McKee
I started playing bass at age 14 after my cousin convinced me that it was the right thing to do. It turns out that I picked it up pretty quick. I was playing in my church within about a month. Not very well , but playing nonetheless.
It didn't take long for the passion of playing and learning to set in. So I knew then that music is what I wanted to do with my life. I spent a lot of time playing along with records and tapes, asking a lot of questions and reading about bass. A great guy named Tim Russell that played for a local gospel group had an amazing influence on me and shared some of his ability with me. Thanx Tim!!! Later I learned a lot of theory and picked up on reading charts which led to some recording gigs.
I have had the pleasure of playing music with some of this areas finest musicians. I played on the music team at Oakbrook Community Church for many years, played bass for Jason Pitts and filled in for other local bands. I joined the SideKix Band in 2003.
I have had the pleasure of opening up for Tracy Bird, T. Graham Brown, The Alligator Brothers, and The Why Store.
My influences include: Mike Brignadello, Glenn Worf, Lee Sklar, Nathan East, Bud Tugley, Marcus Miller, Randy Jackson, Abraham Laborial, Ross Valorie, and Will Lee.
I am proud to be in The SideKix Band . Not only are these guys very talented , but they are like my extended family and I enjoy sharing the stage with them.
I thank God for the gift He has given me and the life that He has blessed me with.

Cool is my drummer, I shall not rush.
He maketh me to lay out in tasteful places
He leadeth me beside cool meter changes
He restoreth my "one".
Yeah man, though I read through the trickiest
charts, I will fear no train wrecks.
For You are with it.
Your ride and Your snare, they comfort me.
You setteth up a solo for me
In the presence of mine guitarists.
You annointeth my lines with drive.
My groove overflows.
Surely good feel and swing will follow me
through all the tunes of each set.
And I will dwell in the pocket
the whole gig long.
Amen.
